Our mission

To honor the legacy of Kathleen Grayson Ahmad, a proud woman, mother, grandmother and lifelong advocate for education and community, by supporting and strengthening nonprofit initiatives that empower youth, advance educational equity, and provide essential resources to families in need. Through philanthropy rooted in purpose, we continue her work of opening doors and lifting others with grace, intellect, and heart.

Our story

It started the way so many meaningful things do—around the kitchen table.

In the quiet after the storm of loss, Kathleen Grayson Ahmad’s three children—Kiana Fellows, Monica Williams, and Marcus Grayson—gathered to reflect. Between memories and tears, laughter and love, they asked the question that would shape their next chapter:

“How do we honor Mom?”

Their mother, known lovingly as Kat, was more than a parent. She was a force. A proud woman of faith and conviction, a nurturer, a friend, and a tireless advocate for education, youth, and community. Whether she was sewing blankets for foster children, planting seeds in her garden, mentoring a young person, or lending a hand at church—Kat lived to serve.

That night, an idea took root. And from that idea, the Kathleen Grayson Ahmad Foundation was born.
This Foundation exists to honor her life, her legacy, and her unwavering belief in lifting others. Through purpose-driven philanthropy, we support and strengthen nonprofit initiatives that empower youthadvance educational equity, and provide essential resources to families in need.
We carry her torch with pride, continuing the work she began—opening doors, creating opportunity, and serving with grace, intellect, and heart.

Her legacy lives on.

At the Kathleen Grayson Ahmad Foundation, we are dedicated to our three legacy programs, which serve as the foundation of our mission:

kat’s kitchen

Kat’s Kitchen combats food insecurity through pop-up kitchens and strategic partnerships, ensuring our community has access to nutritious meals.

healing hearts initiative

The Healing Hearts Initiative offers support groups, care packages, and resource navigation for young families and families grieving infant and pregnancy loss—especially in Black communities.

legacy scholars program

Legacy Scholars Program provides scholarships for students heading to college and host workshops focused on financial literacy, empowering the next generation of leaders.

Together, these programs embody our commitment to uplifting and supporting those in need.
